The power of focus

What I cut from a project to finish it.

Focus is mostly the art of leaving things out. On every project there is a version of the work that does ten things badly and a version that does three well.

I now write a short list at the start called not now. It holds every good idea that would pull us away from the main job. Seeing it in writing makes it easier to say no kindly.

The not now list is often the most useful thing in the project folder. It becomes the next project.

Let's talk

I do my best work on knotty problems, with people who are generous with what they know. If that sounds like your project, I would love to hear about it.
